DIY Birthday Card

DIY Birthday Card

I always hate buying birthday cards for people. What is the point of buying a card with someone else’s words in it? It is like a happy birthday from a complete stranger. So, I’ve been inspired by other kinds of holiday cards and decided to create my own. I think this card took about 10 minutes to make and almost looks professional. It is also cheaper than buying cards in stores.

DIY Birthday CardThing You Will Need:
Scissors
Ribbon
Scrapbook paper (12″x12″)

*Optional- pencil

DIY Birthday CardStep 1:

Fold two facing sides inward to meet in the middle.

DIY Birthday CardStep 2:

Repeat step 1 on the opposite sides so that your folds make a smaller square in the middle.

DIY Birthday CardStep 3:

Cut out all 4 corners of the paper.

Step 4:

Cut a half circle into one of the tabs. Use what you’ve cut out as a stencil for the rest of the tabs so that you have something like the above photo.

DIY Birthday CardStep 5:

Fold the tabs in towards the center of the square with one tab under the other, so that they stays together.

You can add a ribbon if you want to add another decorative element.

DIY Birthday CardWrite your message on the inside in colorful ink and you’ve got yourself a lovely personalized birthday card (or a holiday card of some kind). You have to be able to come up with something more creative than the birthday cards at Walmart. If not, a simple “Happy Birthday” will probably do the trick.

Happy crafting!

  1. Lovely … this can even I manage to do without any problems. I use Hallmarks software for my cards … but I like the idea of the folding here.

    • If it is lovely, then you wouldn’t mind that, right? Haha! We will see. Maybe for Christmas. By the time your birthday rolls around I might be able to come up with something better 😀 I know the suspense will kill you…
