As many of you know, I am a bookworm. I read whenever I have a chance. And not just on the modern eReader, but physical books as well. I’m always thinking about ways to make new bookmarks. It’s a fun hobby.
This are fun too. They take a good bit of time to dry, but the actual execution is quick. Follow my tutorial below to to make some of your own.
Bottle cap bookmark supplies
- bottle caps
- Diamond Glaze
- scrapbook paper*
- 1″ circle hole punch
*Chose a thicker scrapbook paper. Like a cardstock or something of a similar thickness.
Step 1: choose your design
Pick your scrapbook paper. Then use your circle home punch and cut out as many circles as you want bookmarks.
Step 2: glue the circles to the bottle caps
Using the Diamond Glaze, glue each circle to the inside of each bottle caps.
Let it dry. It will need at least 15 minutes.
Step 3: seal it
When it’s dry, another another thick layer of Diamond Glaze over top. If you get any bubbles, use a pin to pop them.
Let it dry. It’s going to take a while. Go clean or do some laundry or something.
Step 4: glue on the paper clip
You guessed it! Used the Diamond Glaze again to glue on the paper clip.
I find it helpful to prop it up on another bottle cap. That’s might help you too.
Let it dry for a few hours.
When everything is finished drying, you’ll have some lovely new bookmarks to try out or give as gifts. Know any avid readers? They might appreciate a bookmark.

Happy crafting!
So cute! What a clever idea.
Thanks so much! I have so many bottle caps to do it with too.
I love that and will make and give to all my book lover friends
Wonderful! I’d love to see pictures!
I need to do this! And I know I say that to about every other DIY you make, but this one I’m serious about because I am reading a book that is not only paperback but over 500 pages and keeping a regular bookmark in it is awful! I just started using a paperclip to help keep it from falling out! My parents were VERY proud of me when I figured this out but I feel this would be easier for me than sticking both into the book. 🙂
Yeah definitely give it a shot! And share pictures! I’d love to see them.
