DIY Upcycled Grocery Bag Storage Container

DIY upcycled grocery bag storage container

Like many Americans, I drink too much coffee. I used to buy it all from Trader Joe’s so I had a lot of cardboard containers left over. I try to avoid throwing them away so I upcycle them. Grocery bag storage seemed like a great way to recycle.

This was my grocery bag situation:

I know, it’s rough. I’m ashamed of myself. That junk needed concealed somehow.

Enter: the Trader Joe’s coffee container.

DIY Paper Beaded Earrings

DIY paper beaded earrings

Making these earrings was so much fun! Why? I made the beads from paper.

Pretty cool, right?

You can make them too! You could use old photographs, magazines, scrapbook paper… anything you have around the house.

Take what you have and upcycle it. Upcycled crafts are the best kind.

DIY Gift Box From Scrapbook Paper

DIY paper gift box

I was trying to think of a good craft to make for Make Something Mondays earlier in the week and I thought of this paper box. When I was a freelance graphic designer and was regularly looking for new clients, I would make these boxes and fill them with tidbits about myself along with my résumé. It usually worked and I would at least have a call with my prospective clients.

I like these boxes because they are easy (and affordable) to make, and people always react positively to them. Read the whole post

DIY Upcycled Artist Organizer

DIY upcycled artist travel case

I don’t know about you, but I try to recycle or upcycle as much as possible. I keep 6-pack carriers, pasta jars and disposable tupperware because I know I can use them for other things, like storage.

A few months ago I made a travel case for my sketchbook, and I love it, but I can’t carry a ton of pens in it. Sometimes, I like to work on colorful drawings that require a variety of pens or pencils, so I decided to make an organizer from an old 6-pack carrier. Read the whole post

DIY Decorative Scrapbook Paper Pins

DIY decorative scrapbook paper pins

Before I get started with this week’s Make Something Monday’s craft project, I have to tell you a story.

After I finished taking my pictures for these DIY pins, I was talking to my boyfriend and not paying any attention to what I was doing. I stuck my camera card into the CD slot in my laptop instead of the camera card slot and it disappeared. I was freaking out. How the heck am I going to get this thing out of my computer??? DIY Geometric Pen Holder

DIY geometric pen holder

I was really excited for my craft this week. I recently started a new job, which means I have a new desk in a new environment. I wanted to spice up the space a little bit with a fun pen holder.

I knew I wanted it to be geometric, but wasn’t sure exactly how to go about it. So I googled “geometric 3d design templates” and found this site called korthalsaltes.com. It has templates for a ton of 3D shapes. Read the whole post

DIY iPhone Case Design

DIY iPhone Case Designs

I’ve been wanting to make my own cell phone case design for a while now, but I had a good case and didn’t want to replace it. Well, it broke last week, so I took my chance.

I love this craft because there are so many options. You can use a drawing (which I plan to make later), photography, scrapbook paper, Instagram photos, etc. Whatever you can make or find will work!

Last Minute DIY Father’s Day Gifts

Is it almost Father’s Day already? I feel like that just happened.

I’m sure there are many of you who feel the same way. Did you get Dad something yet? Of course not. Because you had a million things to do this week and now it’s Friday night. You could go to the mall and buy him something he doesn’t really want that he probably won’t use… or you could make something yourself. Something he will appreciate more because it’s from the heart. Valentines Day Gifts For Him 2016

Every year I post a list of Valentine’s Day gifts for the men, and it’s about that time of year again. Have you started thinking about it yet? It’s okay if you haven’t. I have a list of good buys and DIYs for your man.

My lists rarely consist of the typical, cliche gifts. I try find unique gifts throughout the year, mostly from Etsy or something you can make yourself, and make note of them. Read the whole post
