Mosaic Art By Saimir Strati

Portrait of nails

These massive mosaics were created by Saimir Strati, an Albanian artist. He is most famous for his work with mosaics using nails, toothpicks, eggshells, coffee beans, corks, sea glass, etc. The distingishing factor that sets him apart from other mosiac artists is that he uses every-day materials for his art. He is reviving an old technique by recycling these materials.

Saimir’s inspiration comes from his music. His artwork The Four Seasons is derived from the Vivaldi concerto. Each musical instrument represents a season.

What you are looking at below is a mosaic of Leonardo Da Vinci made of industrial nails. Saimir set a Guinness World Records as the World’s Largest Nail Mosaic. This artwork contained about 882 lb. of nails.

Saimir currently holds 6 world records for his work.

Reinless Spirit, the images below, also holds a world record for the World’s Largest Toothpick Mosaic. The artwork contains a total of 1.5 million toothpicks to display a horse. The work was dedicated to Antonio Gaudi.
