Sewing Challenge: DIY Lip Balm Carrier

The theme for this month’s Craft Challenge is sewing. Originally, I had a much bigger project planned but I went to Ohio for a wedding this weekend and didn’t have as much downtime as I had planned for. It happens. So, I changed my project plans and made this fabric lip balm carrier in place of it. It’s a quick craft and would make a great beginner sewing project.

Things You Will Need

Thread Fabric Needle Scissors Key ring Lip balm Ignore the button in the image. I’m not sure why I had that in there…

Step 1

Cut out your fabric in a similar pattern to the above. It should have a shape similar to glass beer or soda bottle.

Step 2

Flip your fabric inside out and sew the edges and top together. Flip it right-side out through the open space at the bottom.

Step 3

Now, you’re fabric is right-side out, but it’s still open at the bottom. Push about half an inch of the fabric down inside and sew the pieces together.

Step 4

Now, fold the bottom half upward like in the image above. This is going to be the pocket for your lip balm so make sure you place the tube in there for accurate measurement. When you’re happy with the sizing, sew the sides together. Flip it inside out.

Step 5
