DIY Fall-Inspired Wreath

DIY Fall-Inspired Wreath

I felt festive today, so I made a fall-inspired wreath. It doesn’t take long to make (maybe half an hour) and it is nice home decor. The pinecones are cinnamon-scented too, so it makes my house smell amazing 🙂

I don’t know how much the average seasonal wreath would typically cost, but I made this one for less than $20. It is probably about $16 altogether.

Fall Wreath Supplies

Wreath Form*
Scissors
Fall Ribbon
Hot-melt glue  & gun
Fall floral plant
Brown Felt (optional)
Cinnamon-scented pinecones

*I’ve seen people use a pool noodle in place of the styrofoam circle. You can give that a shot. I’ve never tried it though, so I’m not going to tell you it will work. If you try it, let me know how it goes.

You can also find the scented pinecones and floral plants at your local craft store. Around this time of year, they should be stocked up. You will smell them as soon as you walk in the door.

Step 1: Glue the ribbon to the wreath

Fold the edge of the ribbon over and glue it to the styrofoam wreath.

Step 2: Wrap the ribbon around the wreath

Begin to wrap the ribbon around the wreath form. I bought 10 ft. (3 m.) worth of ribbon and just barely had enough. Make sure you are wrapping the ribbon directly over top of where the last piece of ribbon ended.

Step 3: Glue the felt around the bottom of the wreath

If you choose to use felt, here is where you want to wrap a small piece around your wreath. Ensure the beginning and end of the felt meet at the back of the wreath. You don’t want people to see that part.

We’ll use this as a base for our scented pinecones so people don’t see the ribbon through them.

Step 4: Glue your pinecones to the wreath

Here’s the fun part. Begin to glue your fall-scented pinecones to the wreath. Find a good layout and get to work 🙂

I chose a slightly off-centered position for mine to add extra interest.

Lastly, tie another ribbon around the wreath for hanging.

This wreath turned out beautifully!
