DIY Semi-homemade Lotion

diy bottled lotionI’ve never tried to make my own lotion before today, but I would say the experience went well. Although, this is a semi-homemade lotion I still plan on making my own from scratch someday; I just have to do a bit more research. It seems like some people like using coconut oil with baby lotion and vitamin E lotion but I wanted this to be more fragrant. None of the vitamin E lotion that I found was scented and I didn’t want to mess with essential oils just yet. So, I substituted coco butter. I thought about using almond oil but I’ve never used that before and didn’t want to risk the experiment just yet. I know that all three of these are very hydrating, which is what I was going for. I like that this lotion isn’t heavy or greasy so it doesn’t leave a film on my skin. It seems to be working well so far and smells pretty good 🙂

Things You Will Need:
A bowl
Bottle or jar
Baby lotion
Shea butter
Coconut oil

Step 1:

Measure 8oz. of baby lotion into your bowl.

Step 2:

Followed by 8oz. Shea butter.

Step 3:

And finally, 4oz. coconut oil. It looks like some people use melted coconut oil but I would rather just smash it up with my spoon. Seems to work pretty well.

Step 4:

Mix the ingredients thoroughly.

Step 5:

Bottle it up! Put the excess in a tightly sealed bottle or jar and store for later.

Semi-homemade lotion! It smells pretty good and is very hydrating. Let me know if you try it and if you like it 🙂

Happy Monday!
