Last Monday I made coconut lotion also, but this week I used unrefined coconut oil. It isn’t as oily as the refined oil and it smells more like coconuts. I like that smell so I enjoy this kind more. It was really easy to make and took about 10 minutes.
Things You Will Need:
A bowl
Olive oil
Coconut oil
Hand mixer
Essential oils
Step 1:
Spoon some coconut oil into a large bowl. Make sure it is about the amount of lotion you want to end up with. (I added more after I took the picture.)
Add in a tablespoon of olive oil for every cup of coconut oil and begin mixing it all together. Continue until you get a whipped consistency.
When you are happy with it, add in the essential oils and mix for another few seconds to make sure it is mixed in. I used peppermint and lavender and it smells amazing!
Now you can spoon it into a container and enjoy it! Let me know what you think!
Happy crafting!
I’ve been using coconut oil alone lately as a moisturizer as soon as I get out of the shower. But the coconut oil can get clumpy and hard to dig out of the jar. I may give this a try because I do like how my skin feels (and smells) when I use it. Thanks for the idea!
Yeah, I don’t like using it right out of the jar either. After mixing it a bit, it does make it more of a whipped consistency. Add in some essential oils if you like, too. It smells amazing. It’s like coconut goes with anything.
