3D Metal Printing

Seriously? Yes! Have you ever heard of Shapeways? They print metal 3D objects. It is pretty cool. By using this site you can upload a 3D image and they will print whatever object you’ve created and mail it to you. Or you can go to the site and buy products that have already been created.

“By providing a platform for our community members to share ideas and gain access to cutting edge technology, we’re bringing personalized production to everyone—whether you’re already designing in 3D or are just looking to buy something completely unique. We print everything on-demand, which means that every order is customized and personalized.” -Shapeways.com

Oddly enough, I was talking to a coworker about this last week. She was telling me about this 3D printing and gave me the name of the website. Then, a few days later, another coworker showed me these metal dice that he bought from the site. It looks so professional and is hard to tell how it is put together. Everything just fits right into place.

  1. Amazing. I have a 3D printer on it’s way to me right now but it does everything in plastic. I did not know they had a metal one. I still have to learn the software. 8 weeks lead time with Makerbot. Pretty darn cool items you posted!
