So, like I promised, here is another blossom tree. This time it is green. I have a friend who likes green a lot… maybe “likes” is an understatement. She enjoyed my red blossom tree so much that I offered to make her a green one. I also documented the process so maybe you will make one too! 🙂
*Keep in mind that I taught myself to paint so my techniques might be a bit different than you are used to. I’m sure you will figure it out though.
Things you will need:
Canvas (I used 11×14)
Paint brushes
Acrylic paint
Paper towels
Paint board
Cup of water
Step 1:
Squeeze out a small glob of each color of paint you want to use on to a paint board. I used dark brown, light brown, reddish brown, maroon, orange and white.
Step 2:
Using a large brush, paint the area around the outside of your canvas dark brown.
Please make sure to keep your paints wet. Acrylic paint dries very quickly.
Step 3:
Right above the dark brown, paint in light brown.
Step 4:
Add white in the center. You might want to use a medium sized brush for this.
Step 5:
Start blending. Begin adding some other colors (if desired) like orange or red.
Your background should look something like this. Wait for a few minutes until it dries.
Step 6:
Paint a tree somewhere in the middle in dark brown using a thin brush for detail. Once you have a shape you like use the light brown to add highlights and blend the two browns together.
Step 7:
Add leaves to your tree (also using the small brush). I always start on the left and work my way over. Leave the middle of the tree a bit more available for the blossoms.
Step 8:
Add blossoms. Once the blossoms dry add a dot of dark brown to the center. If you wish, you can use white paint to add highlights to the petals as well.
Voila! You have a blossom tree. I plan on making a series of these since I got so many positive responses. 🙂 I’m thinking blue, purple and maybe a multicolored one.
Happy Painting!
really cool!
Lovely piece. 🙂
Happy trees? : )
