I’ve been crafting for about 5 years now, and it’s about time that I make some sort of holder for my hot glue gun. It’s fair to say that I use my glue gun in about 40% of my craft projects. In 100% of those, my glue gun falls over and drops glue on my table.
I used my sketchbook to design a holder, then went to Pat Catan’s to pick up supplies. It only took about 15 minutes to put everything together, excluding drying time for the super glue.

Hot glue gun holder supplies
- pencil
- scissors
- Mod Podge
- sponge brush
- wooden plank
- wooden letter I
- scrapbook paper
- super glue
- small mirror
You can find all of these supplies at your local craft or hobby shop.
Step 1: measure and cut the scrapbook paper
Measure (or trace) your wood plank and your letter I. You’ll want two pieces for the letter I, one for the front and one for the back. Cut out the scrapbook paper to meet those measurements.
Step 2: glue the scrapbook paper to the wood pieces
brush a thin layer of Mod Podge onto the wood pieces and press the scrapbook paper in place. Press down firmly to ensure that all edges are sealed.
Let it dry for a few minutes.
Add another layer of Mod Podge over top to protect the paper.
Step 3: superglue the wood pieces and mirror together
Super glue the mirror to one end of the wood plank. The mirror will be used to catch the hot glue when it drops.
Then, super glue the wood letter right in front of it. This will be the prop for the glue gun.
Let the glue dry. There will be drying directions on the tube.
When you’re finished, you’ll have your very own glue gun holder! I’m so excited to start using mine. I can’t tell you how much glue i clean off of my table. And now, I’ll just have to peel the drops off of the mirror.
I’d love to hear your thoughts! Leave them in the comments.
Happy crafting!
Hey, I could use one of those! Good idea.
Want one, I’ll make one for you? I just need to know how big your glue gun is bc I think yours is bigger than mine.
