DIY Cranberry Orange Vodka

Hello! I hope everyone had a great holiday. I went on a mini hiatus for a few weeks. This December has been particularly stressful and I needed to take a break and recharge my batteries. Anyway, back to the good stuff. I’m sure you all have exchanged your Christmas gifts and are progressing into the new year, but I have a wonderful DIY gift for you guys. If you have a week, or even a few days, until you’re giving someone a gift and you’re still looking for ideas, make your own cranberry orange vodka.

It looks so yummy and it tastes even better. It makes a great gift, especially for those of us who prefer not to receive something that will clutter up the house. You only need a few supplies to make the vodka and you probably have most of them.

Materials for Orange Cranberry Vodka

  • 12 oz cranberries
  • 2 orange peels
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • vodka
  • glass jar with airtight lid
  • saucepan

Step 1: cook the cranberries

Pour the cranberries, sugar and vanilla extract into the saucepan and cook on high until the cranberries burst. It should only take about 5 mins.

Take it off the burner and let it cool for about 10 mins.

Step 2: infuse the orange peel in vodka

Drop the orange peels into the jar and pour the vodka over it.

You can use whatever vodka you like, but I used Pinnacle, about half the bottle.

Step 3: combine the cranberry mixture and orange vodka

Pour the vodka mixture into the jar with the orange peel and vodka. Shake well.

Step 4: let it infuse

Refrigerate the jar for 3 days to a week and give it a good shake occasionally to get all of the juices flowing.

When ready, strain the mixture and put your vodka in a new jar. You’re ready to gift it! Make sure you give it to someone who is going to appreciate it.

Happy infusing!
