Have you ever been to the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah? Me either, but I think I have a pretty good idea of how amazing the view is thanks to Utah3d. This site is pretty neat. Panoramas are taken (by Martin van Hemert), uploaded, and viewed as 3D images. So basically, when you click the Utah3d link up there, a window will open up with a large view of the Salt Flats in Utah. You can then drag the image around and you get a 360 view of the area.
Why do you want to see the Salt Flats? Because it is BEAUTIFUL! At night, the view is almost surreal. Utah is so dark at night that the only light comes from a single interstate highway and a town called Wendover. It lights the sky perfectly.
The orange color you are seeing comes from high pressure sodium vapor lighting while the green glow is the result of distant mercury vapors.
