Mother’s Day Gifts You Can Make Yourself

It’s almost Mother’s Day already. Can you believe it? You have about two weeks left to find or make Mom something good to celebrate how awesome she is. And she IS awesome. Now, I’m not a mom, but I’ve done my share of babysitting, and it can be hard work if you have a rowdy child. Think about how much time and effort, not to mention patience, that she put into raising you for 18 years. I hope that, by now, you’ve come to the conclusion that your she deserves a thoughtful gift. My mom sure does!

If I could afford to buy my mom a class corvette, or something comparable in value, I would do it but, I can’t. I would rather give her some from the heart anyway, and there is nothing more thoughtful that something you make  yourself. So, I’ve compiled a list of DIY Mother’s Day Gifts that you can make on your own. All of them come with tutorials (some even have free printables) so you have no reason to say you can’t do it. 🙂 By the way, I plan to stay away from the typical foot scrub and bath bomb DIYs. I want to give you something a bit more unique because your mommas are worth it.

Be sure to let me know what you think.

Mother’s Day Gift Board

Any mother wants to be reassured that she’s done a good job of raising you. This board would let her know that you would be her friend regardless of whether or not she was your parent. The tutorial comes with free printables, too!

DIY Brag Book

This one is absolutely perfect, especially if you have kids and your mom is always trying to show someone pictures of the them. It’s a small book, 5″ in width and length to be exact.  It will fit in Mom’s purse and she can take it out whenever she wants to brag about her babies.

Personalized Family Clock

This is such a good idea. The tutorial is very descriptive and the end result is beautiful. If you can find a good picture (with a decent resolution) you will have an awesome DIY Mother’s Day Gift. She will absolutely love this.

DIY Jewelry Dish

This jewelry dish is pretty unique and doesn’t seem like it takes much effort. As long as you have a few hours, this might be a winner. All you do is roll out some clay (which you can find at a craft store), cut it into a circle shape, lay it on some wood for texture, fold it over a bowl for shape, bake it in the oven, and paint it. Lovely tutorial.

DIY Painted Mason Jars

This is one of my favorite tutorials that I’ve made. These painted mason jars are the perfect pop of color to any room. You can pick whatever colors you want, and add some flowers (fake or real) to the jars for a center point. They make great centerpieces too. Mom will love them!

DIY Frosted Glasses

Not only are these glasses fun, they will make your mom think of you every time she gets a drink. All you need is etching acid, gloves, some rubber bands, and a paint brush. You don’t even have to use the pattern I used. You could etch on her initials or a different design.

DIY Soy Candle

Making candles is so easy. The part that takes the longest amount of time is waiting for the wax to harden. You can pick any scent you want and you can put the candle in a mason jar, tea cup, votive holder, or whatever you want. I like the mason jars, though, because they are great for decorative bows and card attachments.

That’s all I’ve got. Hope you liked them. If you have any good ideas, please leave them in the comments. Readers will thank you, especially if they are reading this the day before mom’s special day.
