DIY Glitter Candle Holders

DIY glitter jar with candle

I love candles! If you have followed me for a while, I’m sure you are well aware of that. So,  wanted to make some cute New Years themed candle holders. Since the January 1st is coming up quickly, I thought I would share this one with you. It is super easy to make and, if you’re up for spending some time with your (little) kids, they will enjoy this one too!

coat the jar with Mod PodgeThings You Will Need:
Jars
Brush
Glitter
Paper towels
Mod Podge (gloss finish)
Tealights/flameless candles

*If you don’t put paper towels down before your start, you are going to hate yourself. The glitter goes everywhere!

coat the jar with Mod PodgeStep 1:
Using your brush (or sponge), coat the inside of the jar with a thin layer of Mod Podge.

Step 2:
Before the glue dries, drop some glitter in the bottom of the jar. Put a lid on the jar and shake it up. You can always add more glitter if you want to.

Pour the remaining glitter out of the jar. (This is where the napkin comes in handy.)

Let the glue dry.

Drop your (lit) candle down into the jar.

Beautiful! It makes a great craft to do with your kids and might even make a cute New Years centerpiece! Go ahead and experiment with colored glitter (you already know what silver looks like), and even the thickness of the glue. Since it has a gloss finish it will always dry clear. So, the more glitter you can get to stick, the better it will look.
Happy crafting!

    • Super easy to make. It took longer to clean it up than to make it… Not sure if that is a good thing or a bad thing. Depends on how you look at it I suppose. Happy New Year to you! Thank you very much for 2013! I look forward to 2014 with you!
