“Body Scripture II” is Ronit Bigal’s new exhibition at the Artists House. It is a combination of Photography, Calligraphy and floral ornamentation. Ronit uses digital photography topped with drawings in black Indian ink which produces a base-relief effect.
Bigal starts by photographing a completely exposed body and explores different areas of it with her lens. She wraps parts of her photos with floral ornamentation and others with cited calligraphy taken from Biblical texts. They are abstract and mysterious. This approach arouses the viewer’s curiosity to discover what the photographed parts are and what the text really means. This artist is a genius!
