DIY Orange Cream Lip Balm

diy-orange-cream-lip-balm

Every few months I make a new batch of lip balm. The last batch was grapefruit, and that one was really good. I’ve also made peppermint and different variations of that.

This time, I wanted something citrusy but also kind of creamy, so I chose a combination of vanilla and orange to get an orange cream flavor. It turned out well. I even got some human testers to be sure. (When you’re melting and smelling the oils for half an hour, it can mess with your ability to assess it properly.) Read the whole post

DIY Ribbon Hanging Picture Frames

diy ribbon hanging wood frames

In the last few weeks I’ve noticed the streets and malls getting busier. You can tell that Christmas is coming up. Unlike most people, you couldn’t pay me to step foot in a mall or shopping center right now.

I have a system. Around Black Friday, I swear off shopping malls and hobby shops. I plan out a month or so of craft projects and DIY gifts, wait for a great coupon and get everything I need in one trip. Read the whole post

DIY Sweet Orange Fall Candle

diy sweet orange fall candle

There’s a chill in the air and everyone is talking about fall. That means autumn smells are permeating craft stores and Thanksgiving DIY projects are in season.

Every year around this time, I like to make candles. Something about the cold weather makes me enjoy them so much more. This week, that’s exactly what I’m doing. Sweet orange sounded like a good scent since I’m not quite into the cinnamon spice deal just yet.

The candles are really easy to make and won’t take up much of your time. Read the whole post

DIY Fall Inspired Gift Box

Some wrapping paper is really cute, but most of it is boring and common. Sometimes it’s nice to change it up and make your own, so to speak.

My best friend’s birthday was this past weekend and my dilemma was getting the gifts to fit in the baskets I had. (Based on this blog post, I obviously deviated for the basket idea.) Eventually I gave up and moved to a box. A box that fit my boots. Read the whole post

DIY Tea Holder from Scrapbook Paper

diy tea bag holder scrapbook paper craft

Tea is such a good gift. You can share it any time: when someone is sick, for special occasions, for fun… Whenever really. But it’s no fun to just give people a box of tea. It’s much more exciting to gift in unique packaging.

This tea bag holder is wonderful and makes gifting just a few teabags more personal.

You only need a few supplies and you might have them in your craft box already.

DIY Swirl Wire Wrapped Toe Ring

diy wire wrapped toe ring

It’s summer. It’s warm and sunny (sometimes) and it makes me think of flip fops, bright pink nail polish and toe rings. I like them a lot, and used to have a few. Instead of buying more, what does a maker do? We make our own.

Get some good wire and some jewelry pliers. Let’s get to wire wrapping!

DIY Drawstring Fabric Gift Bag

diy fabric drawstring gift bag

There’s been a lot of celebrating lately. Many birthdays, weddings, Mother’s Day and so many more events have happened in short period of time. It has me thinking of fun ways to give gifts. Cardboard boxes and Dollar Store gift bags can be so boring.

I wanted something simple, yet intriguing. That’s why I made this gift bag. I had some scrap fabric in my stash and thought it would be a great start to this new project. Read the whole post

DIY Herb Garden Markers

My mother always had a green thumb and it’s definitely not something she passed down to me. If it’s green and been in my house for more than a month, it’s probably dead. I’m so bad at gardening, but I’m not giving up yet.

This weekend, I planted a new indoor herb garden. I had a living rosemary and mint plant and added parsley, a different kind of mint and basil. Cross your fingers that I can keep the new ones alive. Read the whole post

DIY Smashbook Cover

DIY Smashbook Cover: Project Life

Have you every heard of a smashbook? It’s like of like a scrapbook, but with less structure. Some people add recipes, top 10 lists, concert tickets, etc., in addition to photos. It’s often referred to as the un-scrapbook.

I have a ton of pictures. Some on my phone, some printed and in a box. What good is that? They aren’t organized in any particular fashion and I rarely look at them, so I wanted to make my own smashbook. Read the whole post

DIY Polka Dotted Gift Card Holder

Did you know that the total volume of gift cards is projected to reach $160 billion by 2018? That’s a whole lot! Obviously, some of that is composed of digital cards, but that still means that many people are giving gift cards in crappy envelopes or wasting money on buying the metal holders.

Can we all agree that opening gifts is the most exciting part? Let’s make the gift card experience a little more exciting then. Read the whole post
