DIY Upcycled Grocery Bag Storage Container

DIY upcycled grocery bag storage container

Like many Americans, I drink too much coffee. I used to buy it all from Trader Joe’s so I had a lot of cardboard containers left over. I try to avoid throwing them away so I upcycle them. Grocery bag storage seemed like a great way to recycle.

This was my grocery bag situation:

I know, it’s rough. I’m ashamed of myself. That junk needed concealed somehow.

Enter: the Trader Joe’s coffee container.

DIY Scrapbook Paper Envelope

DIY scrapbook paper envelop

Envelopes are so boring aren’t they? White and lifeless.

Sometimes you just want a fun one. Maybe to go with a wedding or birthday gift. Or maybe just for fun. I’m certainly not going to waste them on bills. (Does anyone even send their bills by snail mail anymore?) Sometimes I want to send a card with an envelope that’s just as exciting.

My boyfriend and I were at a wedding out of state this weekend and I wanted a pretty envelope to go with the card. Read the whole post

DIY Rope Vanity Organizer from Oatmeal Container

DIY roped dresser organizer

We eat a good bit of oatmeal in my house and I try to reuse the containers whenever possible. If you’ve been reading my blog for any length of time, you’ve probably noticed that I write tutorials for upcycled crafts a good bit. This is going to be one of them.

Oatmeal containers are perfect for open-top storage, like these roped organizers. They’re short enough that many items can be stored inside and you have easy access. Read the whole post

Do you ever lose your keys?

I do at least twice/wk. And it’s the only thing, most of the time.

I needed something to make my keys stand out more. Maybe a lanyard? Yeah that sounded good. Do stores even sell those anymore? I wasn’t about to shop for a lanyard I probably wouldn’t like. You guessed it… I made my own. Read the whole post

DIY Paper Beaded Earrings

DIY paper beaded earrings

Making these earrings was so much fun! Why? I made the beads from paper.

Pretty cool, right?

You can make them too! You could use old photographs, magazines, scrapbook paper… anything you have around the house.

Take what you have and upcycle it. Upcycled crafts are the best kind.

DIY Tiered Tray

diy tiered fruit tray
It’s always nice to work on a functional craft. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy crafting home decor pieces, but there’s a sense of real accomplishment when you put a project together that you will use day in and day out.

This is one of those crafts: the tiered tray. I’ve considered making one before, but didn’t know what I would use it for. I’m not a baker, so it wasn’t going to be used it for cupcakes or anything like that, which seems to be the most popular choice of food for these. Read the whole post

DIY wood branch coasters

This month’s theme for the Craft Challenge is wood.

When brainstorming ideas for the theme, I thought how much more wooden can you get than tree branches? Which is why I chose to turn tree branches into coasters. Read the whole post

Craft Organization for Small Spaces

Craft storage for small spaces

I’ve been writing this blog for about 5 years now. That means I have a whole lot of craft supplies.

I also live in an apartment, which means I don’t have a lot of space.

Until I eventually move out and buy a house, I’ve learned to improvise.

I had an old bookshelf that I wasn’t really using, so I turned it into a case for craft storage. I saved boxes, Mason Jars, vitamin containers and tins to store all of my supplies. Read the whole post

DIY Colorful Triangle Wall Art

DIY Colorful Triangle Wall Art

In elementary school, I remember doing a project similar to this one. The challenge was to make art with geometric shapes. I really enjoyed it. I believe I used squares for mine because I didn’t have a choice. I imagine because it was easier for the art teacher to cut out. Now, there are shaped hole punches, which makes this process so much easier.

I wanted to do something a little different with this art project, though. Read the whole post

DIY Grapefruit Candle Wax Melts

DIY Grapefruit Candle Wax Melts

I love candles. If you’ve followed me for a while, you probably know that already based on the amount of candle crafts I’ve made.

Although I enjoy burning candles, I don’t always enjoy the smokey smell, so occasionally I’ll use wax melts instead. You know, the little wax cubes that you put in wax burners?

I was looking at the melts I have and thought, those look so boring. They’re just boxes. With that, I decided to make my own prettier version. Read the whole post
