DIY spring-inspired abstract wall art

This month, the Craft Challenge is a Springtime craft. I was originally planning to make Duck Tape flowers, but I changed my mind.

Spring is a time to get out of the depression of the cold winter months. That means blooming flowers, bright colors and spring cleaning. Read the whole post

DIY Washi Tape Laptop Skin

Washi Tape Laptop Cover

I’ve been on a fancy tape kick for the past few weeks. I’ve been using decorative Duck Tape and Washi Tape on everything… pencils, boxes, my sketchbook, etc.

I’d been in the market for a skin for my laptop, but it’s about 7 years old and will probably need replaced soon, so I was contemplating whether it was worth the money. Of course, if I can find a way to make my own, I’m certainly going to.  Read the whole post

DIY Desk Organizer From A Cereal Box

DIY desk organizer from a cereal box

I’m not a hoarder of all things; I don’t like to have a lot of possessions, but I do tend to hoard notebooks and sketchbooks like a madwoman. I know I’ll use them, so if I find good ones on sale I’ll buy them. Before I know it, I have stacks of them all over my desk. No one hates piles of stuff more than I do. That’s when I decided I needed a desk organizer. Read the whole post

DIY Distressed Wood Earring Hanger

DIY distressed wood earring hanger

I have a ton of earrings.

If you’re a regular follower, you probably recognize a few in the picture from previous DIY tutorials.

You’d think, by now, that I would have found a decent solution to storing all of them, right?

Wrong.

old earring box

This was the solution. Ugh, earrings everywhere. I could never find a match without dumping out the whole pile. I swear I’m not this messy of a person. Disorganization drives me nuts.

Needless to say, it was time for a change. Read the whole post

diy stacked beaded earrings

The February theme for  The Craft Challenge is beads, so I chose to make wire-wrapped earrings. I found the beads at Michael’s last week and thought they would look cute stacked on top of each other. They look kind of elegant, don’t they? Read the whole post

DIY Decorative Photo Frame

DIY decorative wood photo frame

Do you ever get tired of doing everything digitally? Sometimes I just want to read a physical book and print real photographs.

There’s something about holding pictures in your hand and smelling the pages of book. It’s a feeling and an appreciation you can’t get from a device. This week, I was in one of those moods.

For my birthday, a few months ago, a friend bought me a subscription to Groovebook, which is a photo subscription service. Read the whole post

DIY Scented Hand Warmers

DIY scented hand warmers filled with rice

It’s been a downright unpleasant week with single digits and negative wind chills.

In case you didn’t know, I HATE being cold. On any given day in the winter months, I’m wearing at least 3 layers of clothing.

To stay warm, I decided to make hand warmers. They’re filled with rice, so you can heat them up as you please.

I throw them in the microwave for 30 secs while I’m pouring my coffee into my thermos before work, then put them in my coat pockets or tuck them in my gloves. Read the whole post

DIY Lemon Grapefruit Sugar Scrub

DIY lemon grapefruit sugar scrub

First, I’d like to apologize for my absence last week. I got sick and missed all kinds of good stuff like my work holiday party and the 60 degree weather. For once, crafting was not on my priority list. It was not a good weekend. But this weekend is a better one.

Valentine’s Day is coming up… That means you want to look and feel your best, right? Of course. Forget V-Day though, I want smooth skin all the time. Read the whole post

DIY Valentine's Day Mason Jar Gift

Ohhh, Valentine’s Day…

A holiday that’s either loved or hated depending on the person’s relationship status.

I’ve never been wild about the holiday, but I do enjoy chocolate and hearts, so I’ll make it work. Of course, with that in mind, my Valentine’s Day themed craft involves candy. Read the whole post

DIY Photo Magnets

DIY photo magnets

I’ve noticed a trend in the last year or so. People love personalized gifts; everything from monogramed purses to homemade birthday cards are popping up all over the place. But, many people don’t feel comfortable making gifts for someone else.

To fix that problem, I’ve decided to make a tutorial for a great, personalized gift that anyone can make: photo magnets!

I chose to personalize my photo magnets with photos I took of bridges from my hometown, but you can use whatever imagery you prefer. Read the whole post
