DIY Herb Garden Markers

parsley plant marker

My mother always had a green thumb and it’s definitely not something she passed down to me. If it’s green and been in my house for more than a month, it’s probably dead. I’m so bad at gardening, but I’m not giving up yet.

This weekend, I planted a new indoor herb garden. I had a living rosemary and mint plant and added parsley, a different kind of mint and basil. Cross your fingers that I can keep the new ones alive. Read the whole post

DIY Window Photo Frame

diy window photo frame

As many of you know, my husband owns a brewery that opened this past year (yay!). Prior to the opening, he and his 3 partners spent about a year doing renovations to the space. Fortunately, we have a ton of pictures of the process, so one of his partners gave me an old window frame and asked me to turn it into a picture frame. What a great idea, Ben. I will do that. 🙂

Most of the photos were taken on a phone, so the quality wasn’t good enough to blow to fit the entire frame. Read the whole post

DIY Smashbook Cover

DIY Smashbook Cover: Project Life

Have you every heard of a smashbook? It’s like of like a scrapbook, but with less structure. Some people add recipes, top 10 lists, concert tickets, etc., in addition to photos. It’s often referred to as the un-scrapbook.

I have a ton of pictures. Some on my phone, some printed and in a box. What good is that? They aren’t organized in any particular fashion and I rarely look at them, so I wanted to make my own smashbook. Read the whole post

DIY Beach-Inspired Candle Centerpiece

beach-inspired candle centerpiece

I took a trip to Clearwater, Florida with family earlier this year. I saved a water bottle full of sand and seashells in hopes of making a fun craft in memory of the trip.

Unfortunately, I threw the sand bottle in my mom’s suitcase before we got on the plane and she took it home with her, which is about an hour and a half from my home in Pittsburgh. This past weekend I was able to get it back and start my beach craft project. Read the whole post

DIY Peppermint Lemongrass Yoga Mat Cleaner

diy yoga mat cleaner lemongrass peppermint

Yoga has been such a great part of my life for the past, I don’t know, 7 years. One thing I struggled to find that I liked was a cleaner for my yoga mat. I’ve tried a bunch of store-bought variations, but they either don’t work or leave a strange smell on the mat. I’m not a big fan of that. It was time I tried to make my own and I’m pretty happy with the results. Read the whole post

DIY Upcycled Travel Tin

accessory travel tin

I always carry hair ties and bobby pins with me when I travel. I think I’ll want to leave my hair down but it just gets irritating, so I pull it up. My hair is so thick that one hair tie doesn’t last very long. A few days, maybe. That’s where my travel tin comes in. I don’t know how I ever traveled without it.

Mint tins are perfect for upcycles like this. The closure works really well, and they hold a decent amount of stuff. Read the whole post

DIY Essential Oils Air Freshener with Baking Soda

DIY homemade air freshener

I hate the air fresheners you buy in stores. Granted, some smell really good for for like a day, but really all you’re doing is breathing in things you shouldn’t. I’ve read a lot about it because I like candles or anything that keeps a room smelling fresh. I don’t know if that’s all true, and I’m certainly not trying to freak anyone out, but I’m not willing to take chances. That’s why I always make my own. Read the whole post

DIY Polka Dotted Gift Card Holder

opened gift card holder

Did you know that the total volume of gift cards is projected to reach $160 billion by 2018? That’s a whole lot! Obviously, some of that is composed of digital cards, but that still means that many people are giving gift cards in crappy envelopes or wasting money on buying the metal holders.

Can we all agree that opening gifts is the most exciting part? Let’s make the gift card experience a little more exciting then. Read the whole post

DIY Upcycled Paper Organzier

DIY paper organizer upcycled craft

As many of you may know, my husband started a company not long ago. The downside of that is the paperwork that comes along with it. There are papers aaaaaallllllll over my house. Piles upon piles, and it drives me up the wall. I had to find a way to organize them.

The best craft projects come out of a need for something. I needed an organizational structure for all of the papers. You can make an organizer too. Read the whole post
