Creative Bookshelves

Etsy is always my go-to site to find something creative and unique. Not only is in a site for buying those unique and creative things, but it is also a site for inspiration. There are some wonderfully creative people out there and they deserve a lot of credit.

So, in my search for some creative bookshelves for my apartment, I found some great ones to share with you! I hope you like to read as much as I do, because I doubt you will enjoy these as much if not. Read the whole post

Vici: A War Game

A friend of mine from College, Ben Shulman, created his own board game! The game is called Vici (Latin for “I conquered”) and it is going to be on Kickstarter the entire month of August for funding.

I’ve never actually played Vici, but I remember him working on it. It is a pretty neat idea. Much different than the standard, Monopoly.

Vici: Board Game

Vici is a war game that tests each player’s  ability to strategize. In the game, players take the role of military generals leading their soldiers into battle. Read the whole post

Typewriter Birds by Jeremy Mayer

bird art from typewriter pieces swallow from typewriter parts

This is probably the coolest use of recycled materials that I have ever seen. If not the coolest, its def in the top 5!

Jeremy Mayer is an artist from Oakland, CA. Typically he recycles typewriter parts to create full-scale human figures. Recently, though, he used those pieces to create something different, these beautiful bird sculptures.

I found it interesting that Jeremy doesn’t glue, weld, or solder the pieces. He simply reassembles the pieces to fit together. Read the whole post

Paintings, Not Photographs by Doug Bloodworth

Over the past year and a half I have shown you many artworks that you have to look at twice because you can’t determine whether it is a painting/drawing or a photograph. I love those, obviously. Some of the greatest artists in the world can’t do that but I think it is an aspiration of many. Here we go again…

Doug Bloodworth is another one of those artists. His paintings are so realistic that you have to  look all too closely at the image. Read the whole post

Duct Tape Prom Attire = $10,000 Scholarship!

Stuck at Prom Scholarship Content

This is the coolest scholarship I’ve ever seen! Students are encouraged to create prom dresses and tuxes with duct tape. If they had this scholarship when I was in high school (provided I knew about it), I would’ve been all over that! Anyway, the winner(s) receive $10,000. You can apply solo or as a couple. Applicants have to submit a photo of themselves in their prom attire to be considered. The finalists are chosen based on workmanship, originality, use of color, accessories, and use of duct tape. Animal Tire Sculptures by Yong Ho Ji

Animal Tire Sculptures by Yong Ho Ji

These animal-like tire sculptures just blew my mind!!! I keep looking at them in amazement. How did the artist, Yong Ho Ji, cut the tire so perfectly, and mold it so precisely, that it created a familiar creature. Holy cow, I can’t get over these! That is how you can tell he is a good artist. When you sit there and stare. There are a billion questions running through your mind, but you can’t come up with an answer to any of them.
