DIY Mason Jar Soap Dispenser

This was probably one the easiest projects I’ve ever made that actually served a functional purpose. The mason jar soap dispenser takes about 15 minutes to make and costs about $3 (depending on the soap you choose to put in it). I got the mason jar for $1 at Pat Catan’s (you can get them at any craft or thrift store) and I got the soap for $2 at Walmart.

 

 

Things You Will Need:
Soap
Knife
Mason jar
Hot melt glue

 

 

Step 1:

Exactly How Bored Are You?

Post image for Retired Russian Woman Decorates Her Home With 30,000 Bottle Caps

Olga Kostina,a resident of  the Siberian taigahas, decided to decorate her home with 30,000 plastic bottle caps (yes, that number is correct). She Made this beautiful design over the course of several years.

The Siberian Taiga is an area known for its natural beauty, but also has a population density of only three people per square kilometre. Olga enjoys collecting the bottle caps as a hobby to pass time, and when she gets enough she starts to decorate.

World’s Biggest Coffee Bean Mosaic

This mosaic is called The Awakening and was created by Russian artist Arkady Kim. Over one million coffee beans were used in a variety of shades to cover a panel that weighed 397 pounds. It became the largest coffee bean mural and was exhibited in Moscow’s Gorky Central Park of Culture and Leisure.

DIY Mail Organizer

I don’t know about you, but when I come home I throw all of my mail on the counter inside the door. I think most people do that. It causes a lot of clutter though. So, I had to come up with a solution. I was wondering around Pat Catan’s the other day and found this wooden mail holder. There it is, the solution 🙂 I can do something with this!

Birthday gift!

What do you get for your best friend for her 25th birthday? You make her an alcohol bouquet! Unique and cute.

All you need is a pot, foam ball, some wooden sticks, tissue paper or decorative element, hot melt glue and alcohol samples. Good stuff 🙂

A History Lesson… In Photography

Dorothea Lange (1895-1965) is greatest American documentary photographer, in my opinion. She is most well known for her photography from the great depression and the migrant workers. Each of these photographs of pre-WW2.

I am pretty sure this section in my history book (way back when) was the only chapter I actually read start to finish.  Her photography is lovely and so subtle. Each picture captures the emotion perfectly. It makes me feel like I am standing right in front of these people. Read the whole post
