Thank You for A Great 2015

Can you believe I’ve been writing this blog for about 4 years? Me neither

that means I’ve posted a craft tutorial every Monday, with few exceptions (Christmas or being sick), for 4 years.

I started this blog as a way to keep my creativity flowing, but it has become soooo much more than it was intended to be. I’ve met some amazing people who are really talented who have heart-warming stories, I’ve been offered 2 jobs (partially because of this blog) and I’ve been able to enhance my artistic abilities. I’ve gotten so much out of this blog and it’s all because of you!

Thank you for for an wonderful 2015  and an amazing journey to this point.

I don’t have fantastic blog stats, but the stats are as much yours as they are mine. Here they are if you’re curious.

Thank you to the stats helper monkeys for preparing a 2015 annual report for my blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

The Louvre Museum has 8.5 million visitors per year. This blog was viewed about 110,000 times in 2015. If it were an exhibit at the Louvre Museum, it would take about 5 days for that many people to see it.

Valentine’s Day Gifts for Her 2014

After I posted by Valentine’s Day Gifts for Him 2014, I got a request for Valentine’s Day gifts for her. So, this is for you!

(Most) women are easy to buy for. If you get chocolate, flowers, and/or dinner, you’re doing pretty well. But, there are always some ladies that hate that stuff. I hate getting flowers. Save your money… Surely there are other women out there who feel the way I do. With that in mind, I’ve compiled a few ideas for the hard-to-buy-for women in your lives.

Let me know what you think! If you have ideas to add you can leave them in the comments. Please do, my readers will thank you!

The Psychology of Color: Infographic

Who doesn’t like infographics? They are visually appealing and easy to read (most of the time). So, when I found this one from Painters of Lousville, I had to share it.

This one talks about what each color represents in terms of feeling or emotion, what each color represents and how we use them in marketing (which I am particularly interested in). Think about it. How do you respond to colors? Why do you respond that way? Do you like a particular color because you were conditioned to? Or because you just like it. Or maybe you painted your kitchen red because it makes you think of food…

There is an interesting idea behind the psychology.

Blogging Ideas…

Surprisingly, I haven’t found any problems coming up with new content to write about on Make Something Mondays. There are always new artists to discover and new craft projects to try. But I’ve found that writing on other topics is not so simple.

So I want to know what you do when you are staring at a blank document, and think that you have nothing to say. You want to write, but what is there to write about? How do you come up with topics? Do you read other blogs and the comments? Do you use hashtags on social networks? Are you inspired by something that happens in your day?

Are the comments your readers leave mostly positive? Or are they the product of your rudely reactive writing?

What really gets your readers going?

196 Days, 196 Countries Continued…

You guys remember Javier? He started a journey across the US (from Virginia Beach to California) to promote love, tolerance, and awareness of his fellow men and women. In order to show this, he is going to take 196 days to walk across America. Why 196 days? Because there are 196 countries in the world and he is going to wear a shirt displaying a flag from one of those countries each day.

He is doing very well. He just got back from a small break. He surprised his parents and came home for the holidays 🙂 how sweet! Now he is back at it! He is walking about 15-20 per day, depending on weather conditions.

Yesterday he said “162 days to go, and as I restart this I would like to say again: Let us focus on the good in the world, continue to embrace universal love, and not accept the fear and negativity too disproportionately portrayed in today’s world”. He seems like such a positive person and I respect that. It is hard to see the good in the world sometimes. In a sense, watching Javier do this has helped me grow as well. It has made me look for the good rather than noticing the bad. I suppose his goal is working :-D. Thanks Javier!

If you are interested, I highly recommend checking out his WordPress blog. His posts are informative and interesting. Surprisingly, he often sets up camp at fire halls because they are most likely to let him stay. I would’ve never guess that, but I’m glad it is working out for him.

As always, Javier, I wish you the best! I will keep looking for your journey to go public!

An Interesting Day For Instagram

I’m sure that if you have been on the internet at all today you have heard about instagram’s updated policy. If not you can read about it here or I can catch you up. One small paragraph in the article said it all.

“If Instagram users continue to upload photos after January 16, 2013, and subsequently delete their account after the deadline, they may have granted Facebook an irrevocable right to sell those images in perpetuity. There’s no obvious language that says deleting an account terminates Facebook’s rights, EFF’s Opsahl said.” –

So, of course there has been an uproar and people are threatening to delete their accounts and called Instagram the iStock that doesn’t pay you for your photos. Makes sense.
instagram policy update
Now, Instagram’s blog states that the policy was poorly written on their part and is going to be rewritten. They claim they never intended to sell anyone’s photos and each person has full ownership of their photos.
I also use Instagram and I plan to wait it out and give them a chance to fix the policy. Although I think they had every intention of selling user’s photos for advertising, there has been enough rebellion that they will have no choice but to fix the issue. They will surely use the majority of their users if they don’t.
I want your thoughts though. Who out there is using Instagram and what is your plan going forward? Comments? Thoughts?
